About The Melanoma Research Foundation

Block The Sun Run directly benefits the Melanoma Research Foundation, an organization that is very important to our family because it supports medical research for finding effective treatments and eventually, a cure for melanoma. We continue to strive to bring greater awareness and education for this very unpredictable and deadly disease.  The Melanoma Research Foundation's mission includes research, education and advocacy.

RESEARCH: To support medical RESEARCH for finding effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma.

EDUCATION: To EDUCATE patients and physicians about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma.

ADVOCACY: To act as an ADVOCATE for the melanoma community to raise the awareness of this disease and the need for a cure.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT HAS MEANT: We were, of course,  overwhelmed with the support and success of the last two year’s events – with over 400 participants each year, countless sponsors and an amazing number of volunteers, we have been able to raise almost $120,000 to date for the Melanoma Research Foundation, donated in Aaron Anchor’s memory. In fact, last year's money that was raised was provided as a grant in Aaron’s name and was awarded to Dr. Victoria Crotzer at the Indiana School of Medicine so she can continue her research of metastatic melanoma cells. Thank you for your role in continuing this important, life-saving work.
